  1. I’m enjoying the way you play with scarcity (in the life of the plain girl) followed by porcine-inspired abundance. One way I interpret the scarcity of my plain girlhood is that it was the result of patriarchy.

    1. Dolores, “scarcity . . . the result of patriarchy” — I never thought of it in those terms before, but it does make sense in retrospect. Your comment makes me want to know more about your girlhood. Thanks for the insight and for your dropping by today.

    1. Another similar quote from him I like: “Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” I’ve always thought of Kafka as symbolic, spare, and even a little spooky sometimes. Example of spooky: “I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us.” You probably read The Trial, The Castle, and/or The Metamorphosis in college. He’s still on my book-shelf.

  2. “A house without books is like a room without window.” Heinrich Mann, novelist (1871-1950)~ Lived that quote, and so true to me. I feel boxed in if I am not reading or writing. I love the pic also, you the “virtuous” young ladies.Reminds me that there really was a time when I was innocent…a very long time ago…lol…but there was.
